FISH TACOS FROM HELL! February 1, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — caiona @ 5:25 pm

So, this last year (1 week before Thanksgiving-yes, I must have been on crack) I decided I needed to lose some weight.  My dress pants and jeans were tight, buttons popping off, the whole shebang.  I couldn’t figure out what the heck was going on.  I OBVIOUSLY WAS on crack thought that I was making correct food choices.  I had been going to the gym, lifting weights, not eating much meat, and even trying to eat “better for you breads and pastas”.

Don't Fall Victim to the Purple Box-this SHIT will KILL you.

Then, I went to see my doctor to see what gives…

She said I was probably a fat ass eating too much carbohydrate.  So, she told me I should check out the South Beach Diet.  I guess some of us have this effect when we eat too much carb…

A Puffer Fish after a big pasta dinner....OR me according to my doctor and my mother. Thanks Ladies!

So, needless to say I went straight to Barnes and Noble and bought the South Beach book.  I learned that most Americans consume WAY too much carbohydrate (waffles w/hashbrowns for breakfast with sugary coffee, sandwiches with bread the size of  frisbees and chips, pasta with bread for dinner and low fat cookies).  Just because it says Low Fat doesn’t mean it is Low Carb people- (have you seen the WALL-E movie?-we are not far from this!).

Um, I already know 10 people that look like this!

Anyway, I am on a path of redemption and know that I have to watch the Carbs.  I often look back at what I used to eat when I thought I was being healthy.  One of my most favorite things was On The Border’s Dos Equis Fish Tacos-my sister- in- law can vouch!  They are to die for!   They are beer battered fish (yes I know that is bad, but I thought that was OK because they have cabbage, beans, and tomatoes which offset the badness and they are made from FISH-how could they be that bad right?).  Anyway, I’ve started to frequent the Eat This Not That website and guess what was the 14th WORST RESTAURANT FOOD IN AMERICA???

DOS EQUIS FISH TACOS FROM ON THE BORDER-14TH WORST RESTAURANT FOOD IN AMERICA...NO WONDER I RESEMBLED A PUFFER FISH/FUTURISTIC WALL-E CHARACTER AFTER EATING THIS!

If you would like to see the rest of the 20 Worst Restaurant Foods in America, here you go….(I bet you have eaten one of them, I can’t be the only Puffer fish)…Enjoy!

Alvin and the ChipHUNK! January 19, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — caiona @ 2:11 am

Last Sunday morning, the hubby, the kid, and I were headed home from brunch when we passed the mega movie theater and Tyler said “Mommy, let’s go see a movie today!”.  As I tried to figure out how to get out of this one, my husband says “maybe you could go see Alvin and the Chipmunks!”  As I am shooting daggers with my eyes gazing lovingly across the car at my sweetie, Tyler of course says “let’s go see Alvin and the Chipmunks MOMMY!”.

Side NoteI’d rather stab myself in the eyeball with a rusty fork than see Alvin and the Chipmunks!

I’ve never been a huge Alvin and the Chipmunk fan, the squeak factor is way too much for me.  But, I decided to be good MOMMY and take one for the team.  So, 30 minutes later (I figure the quicker we go the quicker I can get onto better things) we are at mega movie mart with orange FANTA and homemade popcorn in tow.

So, as we settle down in our seats and start the show, my stream of consciousness goes kind of like this:

“wow, this isn’t TOO bad.. the chipmunks are actually cute, ok so Simon is the nerdy responsible one and Theodore is chubby yet elegant, and oh-no Dave is in the hospital and someone else is going to have to take care of the poor chipmunks and WHO IS THAT AND WHY IN THE WORLD DON’T I KNOW WHO THAT IS?? “.  Onto the screen enters a really adorable , tall, goofy, dark curly hair guy who plays a lot of video games (this is my version of  Brad Pitt people)!  Now this movie is getting better by the minute!

The tall, goofy, video-game playing guy who is going to take care of the Chipmunks!

So, Alvin and the Chipmunks was REALLY good and I even did the good MOMMY thing and took pictures of Tyler at the scene (extra MOMMY points for me)!

Evidence that I am a good MOMMY!

The rest of my day was pretty uneventful.  My friend Erik tells me that the Series Premier of his favorite show Chuck is on and I should totally watch it.  Then, I talk to my mother that evening on the phone and she drops me like a hot potato lets me know she needs to go because she and my dad are about to watch Chuck which is their favorite show!   What the heck is with this Chuck show anyway?  Well, I guess I am watching Chuck tonight, I mean why not?

In case you are like me and had never seen the show “Chuck” before…Meet Chuck!

Zachary Levi, I mean Chuck, I mean the tall, goofy, dark curly hair, video-game playing guy from Alvin and the Chipmunks!

Needless to say, I am now the BIGGEST fan of Alvin and The Chipmunks and Chuck!  What is it with this tall, goofy, dark curly hair, video-game playing guy that I find interesting?  I mean, he’s not even my type…..wait?

Meet Kory, the most adorably goofy, tall, dark curly hair, video-game playing guy I know (AKA my hubby)!
